Sunwook Kim is delighted that his debut recital recording is released on the Accentus label this week (30 October 2015), featuring two of Beethoven’s greatest piano sonatas; the Hammerklavier op106 and the Waldstein op53.

Beethoven forms a central part of Sunwook’s repertoire and one he feels a particular affinity with. In 2012-13  he presented a complete cycle of the Beethoven sonatas at the LG Arts Centre in Seoul and has recorded the Emperor concerto with the Seoul Philharmonic and Myung-Whun Chung. Sunwook was selected as the first recipient of the Beethoven-Haus Bonn mentoring scheme, giving him unprecedented access to their collection of manuscripts and resources.

A follow up release on Accentus of Cesar Franck’s Preludechoral et fugue and Brahms’s Sonata No.3 will be available in January 2016.

Sunwook spoke about the disc in a recent interview with Nina Large. Click here to read the interview.
